Dyes
With the right ingredients and the right equipment you can make natural dyes to colour the the body of your 'gir or to change the colour of select items.

Requirements for Dyes
To make dyes you need a dye pot and at least 1 dye ingredient. The Depot provides the dye pot free of charge. But you'll have to scavenge for the dye ingredients first.

At the moment the ingredients you can use for dyes are...
Oak Galls (forest) - black dye
Alfalfa (forest) - yellow dye
Sweetgum Bark (forest) - blue dye
Elderberry Twig (forest) - red dye
Barberry (forest) - orange dye
Artemisia Annua (forest) - green dye
Logwood (forest) - violet dye
Graith (shop) - adds a permanent glow to items only

Making Dyes
Making a dye is simple enough: You need a minimum of one ingredient but you can put any number into your dye pot. Then it's just to pour water into the pot and bring it to boil over a heat source.

Dye ingredients can only be used once. By then the plants are ruined and you will need to find new ingredients for your next dyes. When a dye has been applied I will tell you to delete the old ingredients from your website's storage.

Vivid or Faint Colours?
Dyes can be made strong or weak as you prefer. Here's a few tips on how to get the results you want:

The longer you let the ingredient(s) stay in the dye pot, the stronger the dye colour will be. But there's only so long you can boil an ingredient and see a noticeable difference.

The more ingredients you have to make a certain colour, the stronger the colour of dye will be too.

An item or 'gir with dark colours is harder to dye than a 'gir or item with light colours. Weak dyes will be much less noticeable on the former.

If you boil dyes in different dye pots you can mix them in order to get something other than the primary colours.

Dyeing 'Gir
Dyes can be used to make markings on all adult 'gir, chosen from this chart.

At the moment all markings are temporary and will be gone after x weeks' time. We haven't found a way to make dyes that permanently colour a 'gir's body just yet.

You can however dye a 'gir's fur several times and even do so to make markings that overlap. Just be aware that not all colours look good when mixed in this way.

If you want to make a dye, just fill out the form below and send it to praejacobi at hotmail.com. All dyes will be applied within 3 days.

Dyeing Items
Dyes can also be used to change the colour of items and these take much easier to the change of colour: all items are dyed permanently!

When you dye an item I need to deliver a new, unique code to you and you will be told to delete your old un-dyed item. Just like the old item, remember to let me know if there is a change of ownership.
